Social Mobility at the School of Economics and Finance

report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies in collaboration with the Sutton Trust and the Department of Education ranks the school as top for social mobility in economics in England

Among the universities in the report, Queen Mary has the highest mobility rate, at 6.8%, based on a combination of student background and graduation success. It should also be noted Queen Mary is the only Russell Group institution represented in the top 10 universities for social mobility.

Not only does the report rank Economics at the school as the top for social mobility in economics in England, but also top for social mobility in non-STEM/Nursing courses in England, and 4th most socially mobile course in England (it is the 3rd most socially mobile course at Queen Mary after Computing and Maths).

This achievement is an outcome of a collective effort made by everyone at the school to aspire to the founders’ vision of opening the doors of opportunity.
