The US election could potentially go on until next year if key battleground states fail to deliver decisive results. Dr Richard Johnson, Lecturer in US Politics and Policy said: "Even if he [Trump] does eventually lose, he will refuse to accept the legitimacy of the result - and will remain a potent force politically for years to come."
