Expert: Brexit will not stop illegal migrants

Commenting on the increased number of migrant boats crossing the English Channel, Dr Sarah Wolff said: “One of the reasons [why this is happening] is that smugglers instrumentalise the perspective of Brexit to increase crossings. But the most common way to get to the UK is still getting through via a truck.”

On the impact of Brexit she added that “the situation shows that the claim according to which, when Britain leaves the EU migrants will stop coming, does not hold. Dr Wolff also said that the UK being out of the EU could complicate the negotiations with Europeans to manage migrants and refugees.
