Our Thoughts

We have developed the Learning Accelerator to support an ever-evolving teaching and learning experience, and meet the unpredictable and unique demands of your students in a world where their needs are constantly shifting. The teaching you deliver will thrive in this increasingly virtual environment and equip students everywhere to do the same.

Our programme of education is transformative and globally focused, tailored towards tackling the worldwide challenges of the 21st century and helping close the skills gap, with topics across emerging fields including healthcare technology, climate change and conflict resolution.

The signature pedagogies we develop with the support of EdTech, in these areas and many more, will become flagship courses for Queen Mary that, through collaboration and exciting new partnerships, differentiate the university in an ever more crowded market.

Technology-driven innovation

Your students’ needs are changing fast in a post-COVID world where remote learning is suddenly the norm, and opportunities in education are growing at the same pace. The Learning Accelerator is at the forefront of the university’s response to this shift, and technology is driving our innovation like never before. A forward-looking content strategy, combined with state-of-the-art methods of delivery, will align new market demand for skills with the growing array of qualifications that we offer.

Workplaces are evolving at an extraordinary pace, and this change is carving out new roles that require highly skilled professionals. Educational offerings across the university must diversify in the same way, and we have the resources to equip your school or faculty for the future.

Global focus

Universities are learning communities, gathering people from across the world to learn together and to solve global challenges. Online learning via courses such as MOOCs accelerate this process:

In addition, there is a growing appetite for industry-led, self-paced short courses that can immediately be applied at a practical level, and today’s employers want bespoke solutions to their exact requirements. We believe that with the right level of collaboration and creative thinking we can meet these needs confidently, positioning ourselves as a go-to provider.

Smart teaching

Educational development support structures need rethinking and digital learning functions must be positioned in key strategic roles to enable these changes. We need to move to a new paradigm of teaching which is team-based, technologically smart (both on and off campus) and embedded in the latest insights into pedagogy.

We will work closely alongside you to design effective learning experiences, curate resources and facilitate student support. Mission-driven collaboration and changing the way we teach from the ground up will drive this change.

Tailor-made solutions

Our innovations need to be specifically targeted rather than blended, providing specific solutions for specific topics. They must also be adaptive, creating an online social learning community which feels personalised to the learner, using the latest technologies in augmented reality and AI.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen just how well online learning can work, and that digital pedagogies can be developed to be adaptable and resilient. The shift to digital learning in recent months has also given way to a renewed appreciation for the physical campus, so we must do everything we can to recreate this in our students.
