Profile

Matthew "Matt" Fayers is a Reader in Pure Mathematics in the School of Mathematical Sciences, and is also (from 2014-2020) Chair of the Undergraduate Subject Examination Board.

Matt's research interests are in algebra and combinatorics, stemming mainly from the representation theory of the symmetric group in prime characteristic, and the associated combinatorics of integer partitions.

Matt holds an MA and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. He started at QMUL in 2004, but from 2006-2008 was a visiting postdoctoral fellow at MIT, supported by a fellowship from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.
