Vito Latora Receives American Physical Society Fellowship

Vito Latora, Professor of Applied Mathematics and chair of the Centre for Complex Systems at the School of Mathematical Sciences has been recognised as Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).

Published:

His recognition is for pioneering contributions to the statistical physics of complex networks, including foundational work on network efficiency, cascading failures, multilayer networks, and higher-order interactions.

Being elected as an APS Fellow is a prestigious recognition of outstanding professional achievement and exceptional services to the physics community. The fellowship programme recognises members who have made advances in physics through original research and publication or made significant innovative contributions in the application of physics to science and technology.

Professor Latora's expertise is in complex systems, with a particular focus on the analysis and modelling of complex networks. His current interests include multiplex networks and higher-order networks, and their applications to socio-economic systems and to the human brain.

The Fellowship solidifies Professor Latora’s position as a leading expert in his field, reflecting both his research impact and global influence.
