Accessing e-resources

To get access to full text:

1. If you see a Full Text Finder button to the right of the resource click on this. The button will appear greyed out until you hold the cursor over it.

You will then be prompted for your ITS username and password when off-campus.

Please note that clicking on the title or login link below the result will not take you through to the full text.

 2. The PDF button will prompt you to log in with your barcode and PIN when off-campus.

3. For an e-book with a Click to View link, click on this to access the full text. You will then be prompted for your ITS username and password when off-campus.

Accessing e-journal articles

Finding and accessing e-journal articles in Library Search is usually straightforward

1. Insert keywords of the title and the author’s surname in the search box. When you find the correct article, click the Full Text Finder button.

2. Click on a Full Text Online button. If in rare cases the first link does not work, try the next.

In instances where publishers only allow Library Search to link to the landing page of the journal and not directly to the article – please refer to the journal article details in Library Search and locate it by using the information on year/volume, issue number, page numbers etc.  See example below searching for a journal article provided by Lexis.

2. If you are in a journal specific database, look for a previous issues/editions or archive section. Then follow the hierarchy to find the appropriate volume and issue.

  • If there is no volume or issue number in the Library Search record, locate your article in the internal search within the publisher’s database.

Accessing articles using LibKey

Libkey Nomad is a browser extension that can help you quickly find online Library resources like journal articles. When you are searching for resources online, the LibKey button will appear if the Library has a subscription to the resource, or if an open access (free) version is available.
