We are launching a poetry competition inspired by our I am You project. The competition welcomes children aged 8 – 10 to submit poetry that is inspired by the protected characteristics within the Equality Act 2010. We have prepared an educational and fun PowerPoint that explains what the Equality Act 2010 is, and our three themes: self-identity, community, and challenging stereotypes. All submissions will be considered, but we are especially keen on participants using these themes.
We welcome submissions from all children no matter their academic ability. Children are free to exercise their creative liberty (poems do not need to rhyme!) and the poems have no word/line limit. Above all, we are looking for creativity and authenticity.
There is a cover form that must be sent with the entry and the deadline to submit the poem is the 31 January 2023 at midnight. View the I am Me Poetry Competition presentation [PDF 1,368KB] for more details.
Winners will have their poem pulished on our website and receive a few lovely gifts!
Please send your entries by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to:
