About IHSS

The Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) was established in 2018. Its purpose is to:

  • Enhance the inter-disciplinary research environment for HSS research and to support cutting edge scholarship at Queen Mary.
  • Enable inter-disciplinary research activity by post-doctoral early career researchers and research students across HSS Schools and to support this younger group of researchers alongside existing faculty.
  • Promote the external profile of inter-disciplinary research centres in Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Develop new ideas by hosting workshops, research events and public activities.

The IHSS is a member of the Consortium of Institutes of Advanced Studies (CIAS).
