Dr. Wurm is a data scientist expert on genome analysis and evolution. His lab examines the genes and mechanisms underlying social evolution in ants, and develops molecular tools for environmental diagnostics of bees and other pollinators.

I am interested in animal behaviour and cognition. I study different species (flies, chicks, tortoises, humans) with behavioural neuroscience, genetics, AI and robotics, to build a broad understanding of the evolution and development of intelligence.

My research focuses on the cycling of the bio-elements that sustain life on Earth. I use isotopes of nitrogen and carbon to investigate novel steps in these cycles in aquatic ecosystems and their links to greenhouse gas production and climate.

My research answers long-standing fundamental and applied questions about biodiversity, ecosystems, and how to protect Nature from human impacts. Our mathematical and numerical modelling reveal the driving mechanisms in ways field observations can’t.

My research focuses on cyberpsychology and the human aspects of cybercrime and cybersecurity, such as prevention of online harms, the psychologies and pathways towards online deviance.

In my research I apply statistical and machine learning techniques to population genetic data to understand species evolution and human disease susceptibility from genomic sequencing data.

In my lab, we combine evolutionary and conservation biology to demonstrate the necessity to consider evolutionary  theories in conservation programs. We link research on the stickleback model species and the endangered loggerhead sea turtle.

I'm an expert in evolutionary biology. I use Bayesian statistics to analyse fossils and genomes to reconstruct the "Tree of Life", thus resolving the evolutionary relationships among organisms.

Chittka is a world-leading expert on insect sensory systems, behaviour, communication and cognition. Using pollinating bees as a model, he explores how animals’ perception shapes their minds and their interactions with the environment.

I research how evolution happens at the DNA level. My main projects are on plant evolution in response to pathogens and climate change. I work on ash, oak, birch and elm trees. I hold a joint position with Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.
