Alumni Entrepreneur Awards

EECS Alumni Entrepreneur Awards 

The Entrepreneur Alumni Award recognises Alumni (and Graduants) who have achieved outstanding entrepreneurial success while upholding the highest standards of commercial awareness. It aims to publicly recognise members of our alumni community who have excelled in their professional lives, achieved entrepreneurial success or significantly given back to the school through voluntary service. Annually, EECS will honour its most outstanding entrepreneurs in an awards ceremony to recognise qualities and accomplishments that serve as an inspiration to the EECS community. This gathering will also serve as a platform for networking with like-minded entrepreneurs. Judged by an independent panel of academics, industry experts, and alumni, EECS Entrepreneur Alumni Awards are to be presented in five categories. 

1. Recent Graduate 

This award recognises young alumni who have shown exceptional talent and achieved success in business, within 5 years of graduation, with promising contributions that are in the early stages of growth. It rewards alumni who have had an early career impact on the industry. 

Alumni eligible for this award: 

  • Are motivated self-starters who have demonstrated exceptional drive and leadership and have taken bold decisions to make their company a success.  
  • Can demonstrate commercial success, business growth and tangible achievements of their company within 5 years of graduation. 
  • Can demonstrate impact on the market. 
  • Can demonstrates ethical conduct of business practice. 
  • Are inspiring role models, making a positive contribution to their community, or impact on society through their company.  

 2. Accomplished Entrepreneur 

This award recognises alumni who operate businesses that have shown stability and success over a long period of time for around a decade. It rewards alumni who are an exemplary figure that has added significance to the community in which they do business in. 

Alumni eligible for this award: 

  • Are inspiring role models, making a positive contribution to their community, or impact on society through their company.  
  • Can demonstrate commercial success, business growth and tangible achievements of their company for more that 10 years of graduation. 
  • Can demonstrate impact on the market. 
  • Can demonstrates ethical conduct of business practice. 
  • Have international influence and visibility working across different geographic regions. 

3. Professional Achievement 

This award recognises a recent graduate, within 5 years of graduation, who has exhibited exceptional success or rapid progression within their chosen career within a for-profit organisation. Such achievement may include successful creation of a new idea and/or new product/service, and/or recognition by colleagues of outstanding leadership. It rewards recent alumni who are having a profound impact in their chosen professional field and are a true inspiration to others. 

Alumni eligible for this award: 

Have sustained professional achievement at the highest levels, in terms of: 

  • Role model for leadership. 
  • Contribution to company profitability and job creation. 
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity. 
  • Contribution to charitable or community organisations, or not-for-profit work. 
  • Significant impact on their profession. 

4. Service Award

This award celebrates outstanding contributions in a volunteer capacity. It rewards alumni who have made a valuable contribution to the School of EECS community through proactive voluntary work. Winners of this award will have contributed significant time and effort to supporting the school. The award acknowledges the vital role that alumni and volunteering have to play in EECS continued strength and success. 

5. Social Good

This award recognises students who have made a positive contribution to the lives of other students. It will also recognise alumni who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others. It rewards students who exemplify the Graduate Attributes of QMUL, and operate in a manner consistent with the values of QMUL. 

Application  

For your application, please submit a 2-3 minute recorded video or a written statement of up to 250 words to demonstrate how you meet the specified criteria for the category you are applying for by 3rd May 2024.

Selection Criteria  

The judging panel comprises academics and members of the industry advisory board, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded evaluation process.
