Queen Mary PGR Student Induction

Queen Mary's PGR Student Induction is open to all beginning PhD students. Induction runs three times a year, once at the beginning of each semester. It is a chance for the Doctoral College to welcome you formally. You will be able to meet the Doctoral College Director as well as the faculties Deputy Deans for research and find out more about the life of a PhD student at Queen Mary and the training and support you can expect to receive.

The 2021/22 Semester 1 induction will take place as a series of online and in-person sessions from 3rd October to 6th October 2022.

Further details can be found on the PGR Induction week Programme [PDF 235KB]

The majority of sessions will be held via Zoom. These sessions are now open for registration.
Please register by going to www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk and search for course code DC104 (the subsequent sessions with course codes DC105 to DC108 are linked so students should be able to book all sessions in one go). Registered attendees will be sent the session link.

There will also be an in-person session on Wednesday, 5th October 2022. This will be our 'Getting to Know You Tea & Cake' session. This will take place in two groups.

  • Group A will be 10am to 12pm
    and
  • Group B will be 2pm to 4pm.

Both will take place in the Octagon, Queens’ Building on the Mile End campus (venue 19a on the campus map). This session can be booked via the course booking system with course code DC110. Please register by going to www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk and search for course code DC110 then select their preferred time.

Please note that access to the Course Booking System is a two-stage login process. To access the course booking system on www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk students need their Queen Mary IT log in first.
Then students will need to register a user account on the course booking system itself.
To do so, please go to ‘Register’ (third tab at the top of the page) and complete the requested information to create a login.
Following this, students can use the ‘Login’ tab (second tab at the top of the page) to log on to the system and book (or if required, cancel) courses.

Any students who do not have their Queen Mary IT log in yet please email doctoralcollege@qmul.ac.uk to register for the PGR Induction events.
(NOTE: Doctoral College does not issue the Queen Mary IT log in. We will only be able to manually sign up students for the PGR Induction..)
