Studentships

If you have been offered a studentship by Queen Mary please see the Research Degrees Office pages for details of procedures for taking up the offer.

Scholarships and Funding

University is a big investment in your future. Each year, Queen Mary supports our undergraduate and postgraduate students through a generous package of scholarships. We also provide undergraduate bursaries, which are based on household income and financial need.

Alternative Guide for Postgraduate Funding (for Prospective students)

Queen Mary has a subscription to the Alternative Guide for Postgraduate Funding, which promotes funding opportunities from non-traditional funding sources, such as charities, for any postgraduate student studying in the UK, regardless of subject or nationality.

The Alternative Guide offers access to small-scale awards, which can be used for conference funding, additional research funding, funds toward your tuition fees, etc. Please note that funders are unlikely to offer funding that will cover the full cost of your tuition and living expenses. The funders listed in the Guide offer supplemental funding, not studentship funding.

To access the Alternative Guide as a prospective student (i.e., a student who is not registered at Queen Mary and does not have a QM email address), please follow the instructions below.

  1. Email dc-alternativeguide@qmul.ac.uk with the subject line ‘PIN request’
    • Using this subject line should ensure that your email does not get flagged as junk.
  2. You will receive an automated reply to your email containing the prospective student PIN and instructions on how to access the guide.
  • These instructions are also given below:
