The Sustainability team at Queen Mary is partnering with Bywaters (Queen Mary's waste collection service contractor) and the new Zero Waste Shop to bring you an interactive event to learn all about recycling, and how we can help the environment.

The Sustainability team at Queen Mary is partnering with Bywaters (Queen Mary's waste collection service contractor) and the new Zero Waste Shop bring you an interactive event to learn all about recycling, and how we can help the environment.

Take part in our VR experience to see what happens when your rubbish arrives at the Material Recovery Facility at Bromley by Bow, and our interactive game to see whether you really are a recycling pro!

You can also find out more about reducing waste when you shop, the products available at Queen Mary's new Zero Waste store and help yourself to some free samples.

Date: Friday 18 March
Time: 11am - 2pm

This event will include:

  • A rolling presentation in the background focusing on the streams you currently have on site. Provision of a screen would be appreciated.
  • Two VR headsets to showcase the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Bromley by Bow.
  • Display informative signage indicating where the waste goes and what happens to it. We will display some of our partners’ products: Bio Bean – Coffee Logs, Stroodles - Pasta Straws. Provision of a table would be appreciated.
  • Interactive waste sorting game of what stream to use with difficult waste items such as coffee cups and crisp packets.
  • Offering out complimentary recycled tote bags, recycled notebooks and pens.
  • Information about reducing waste when you shop the products available at Queen Mary's new store.
  • Free product samples! (from the Zero Waste Shop)
