“I got to learn so much about social media and the law as well as working with a team. We also got to get on a call with solicitors who guided us throughout the process. It was a very enriching experience and if you do join Queen Mary as a law student, this is an experience that you should not slide by.” - Asma Hussain, Future of Law, Public Legal Education Alumna.

Held in the historic Old Library at the Garrod Building, the event marked the culmination of a year of experiential learning, giving students an opportunity to reflect on their development while reconnecting with the wider qLegal community.

The evening began with students sharing their own experiences, discussing the professional and personal lessons that shaped their time at qLegal and highlighting memorable moments from across their programme.

The event also provided an opportunity to recognise the contributions of qLegal's external partners, whose collaboration continues to support students in developing their legal and professional skills.

As students, alumni and partners came together in the second part of the evening, discussions focused on the future of the legal profession, the growing role of artificial intelligence, and the skills needed to navigate an evolving professional landscape.

Over the course of the 2025/26 academic year, qLegal provided opportunities to more than 200 students across its programmes. The year also saw several significant developments, including the launch of the CO.IN programme, which gave students experience of the insolvency courts, and the introduction of Making Climate Law Work, a new podcast produced in collaboration with the Energy and Climate Change Institute.

The Externships Programme also continued to grow, with 41 students undertaking placements across 39 host organisations. Six hosts paid students the London Living Wage, while three students were offered extended opportunities following the completion of their Externship.

As the evening drew to a close, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the graduating cohort and the collective efforts of the students, staff and partners who contributed to another successful year at qLegal.
