Professor Adam Fagan to stand for UACES Chair position

Published:

Professor Adam Fagan to stand for chair of the Academic Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES). Read his supporting statement below:

"Having served on the UACES committee over the past two years, it is with great enthusiasm and commitment that I now stand for chair. This is surely the moment to advocate on behalf of academics and institutions engaged in European social science research. UACES is the organisation to lead this and I would use my term to significantly raise the public and political profile of our organisation in the quest for investment and the promotion of EU/European teaching and research. We are probably best known for our annual September conference. Those of us who regularly attend value it for the opportunity it provides to present innovative and ‘edgy’ research, unbridled by narrow disciplinary silos, in a convivial and supportive context. I want to use my term to grow the conference, to engage far more scholars – early career and established academics – from core countries and institutions, but also from peripheral Europe and beyond."

Professor Adam Fagan
Professor of European Politics, Head of the School of Politics and International Relations, and Member of the Centre for European Studies, Queen Mary University of London
