Peace Process History

Churchill Archives Centre (CAC)

Access the website.

The Churchill Archives Centre (CAC) Is one of the largest repositories of modern personal papers in Britain. Best known for housing the archive of Winston Churchill, it also holds the private papers of Margaret Thatcher. Directly relevant to the Northern Ireland conflict and peace process are the Chichester-Clark Papers (CCLK), the Kinnock Papers (KNNK), the Powell Papers (POLL) and the Thatcher Papers (THCR). These papers are only open to 1981 for now and are fully searchable on the online database. A visit to the Archive is required to access the papers. John Major’s papers will be available in due course. Also available online are various interviews from the British Diplomatic Oral History Programme (BDOHP). The programme constitues a valuable new body of research material for the study of British diplomatic history and there are six available interviews that are directly relevant to Northern Ireland and the peace process.
