Video interviews with Laurence Kennedy (chairman of the North Down Conservative Association), Jeffrey Peel (Chairman of the Model Lagan Valley Conservative Association), the Marquess of Salisbury (Conservative politician), James Molyneaux (leader of the UUP), Sydney Elliott (Senior Lecturer in Politics at Queen’s University, Belfast), Peter Lane (Chairman of the executive of the National Union of the Conservative Party) and Enoch Powell (former Conservative Party MP) for ITN in February 1989. Ahead of the May 1989 local elections a number of unionist political figures decided to form a self-styled Conservative Party organisation in Northern Ireland. The interviewees discuss the advantages and disadvantages of such a new political party.
