Video interviews with David Jones, spokesperson for the Orange Order in Portadown, and Brendan Mac Cionnaith, spokesperson for the Garvaghey Road Residents’ Association, for ITN on 2 July 1999. Ahead of the annual Orange Order march to Drumcree tensions were high between local communities following disputes over the previous year’s march and the ongoing political debate over decommissioning. In respect of the 1999 event, the Parades Commission ruled that the Orange Order could not parade down the Garvaghy Road. Jones and Mac Cionnaith discuss the appropriateness of the ruling.
