Interview with Vincent Kearney by William Crawley for BBC Radio Ulster Talkback on 14 February 2013

Published:

: Audio interview with Vincent Kearney, BBC Northern Ireland Home Affairs correspondent, by William Crawley for BBC Radio Ulster Talkback on 14 February 2013. Two days earlier an eighteen year old man was shot and injured in the Ardoyne area of Belfast in a paramilitary style attack. Two days later Sean Kelly, a republican involved in the Shankill bombing, was arrested by the PSNI in relation to the incident. Kelly’s detention prompted senior members of the DUP to question the stability of the power-sharing government. The incident came only weeks after the highly contentious flag debate. Kearney assesses the seriousness of the situation on power-sharing in Northern Ireland. Kelly was subsequently unconditionally released by the PSNI later that evening. Talkback is BBC Radio Ulster’s daily afternoon phone-in programme.
