The Belfast Agreement/ Good Friday Agreement contained proposals to promote the Irish language, Ulster Scots and the languages of other ethnic communities in Northern Ireland. Blayney discusses the history of the Irish language on the island of Ireland with particular focus on the contribution of Presbyterians to the growth of the language.
