Video interview with residents of the Bogside area of Derry/Londonderry by Sean Duignan for RTE News in August 1969. Amid heightened tensions over the civil rights movement and marching in Northern Ireland, violence erupted over three days in the Bogside area of Derry/Londonderry in August 1969 between its predominantly Catholic residents on one side and the RUC and loyalists on the other. 'The Battle of the Bogside' prompted the British government to send over the British Army to restore law and order in the area. In this interview residents of the Bogside react to the arrival of British troops.
