Video interview with Peter Robinson (First Minister of Northern Ireland), Andrew Hunter (former Conservative Party MP for Basingstoke), Kevin McNamara (former Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) and Anthony Farrar-Hockley (former Commander of British Land Forces in Northern Ireland) for ITN on 11 August 1994. Rumours of a Provisional IRA ceasefire continuously surfaced in the late summer of 1994. Earlier that day Hugh Annesley, the Chief Constable of the RUC, stated that a prolonged Provisional IRA ceasefire would see a reduction in British Army patrols in Northern Ireland. Robinson, Hunter, McNamara and Farrar-Hockley respond to Annesley’s comments and any potential ceasefire. The Provisional IRA later announced a cessation of military operations on 31 August.
