McGlone discusses the challenges of developing support within the nationalist movement for the democratic process in the early 1990s. Civic Voices is an international organisation which promotes civic and democratic participation in society among teachers and students. Its International Democracy Memory Bank Project teaches students how to conduct oral histories on their country’s democratic process.
