Transcript of an interview with Mo Mowlam, Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, by John Humphrys for BBC On the Record on 26 May 1996. On 24 January the Mitchell Report was published, setting out the six Mitchell Principles for a political party's entry into what became known as the Stormont talks beginning on 10 June. On 9 February the Provisional IRA ended their military ceasefire and detonated a bomb at London Canary Wharf killing two people and injuring others. Sinn Fein were subsequently excluded from the Stormont talks. In this interview Mowlam discusses the forthcoming negotiations and the Labour Party's Northern Ireland policies. On the Record was BBC's flagship political programme.
