Transcript of an interview with John Reid, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, by David Frost for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 4 November 2001. On 6 November David Trimble (UUP) and Mark Durkan (SDLP) were elected First and deputy First Ministers of Northern Ireland respectively, John Reid having ignored his own 4 November deadline for the Assembly's decision on these two positions. In this interview Reid discusses the political negotiation which was to facilitate the breakthrough and the establishment of the PSNI in place of the RUC. Breakfast with Frost was a weekly BBC current affairs programme.
