Interview with John Reid by David Frost for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 23 September 2001

Published:

Transcript of an interview with John Reid, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, by David Frost for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 23 September 2001. The 11 September attacks in the United States of America prompted cross-community denunciation of terrorism in Northern Ireland. Ten days later Reid temporarily suspended devolved power to the institutions with the view to giving political parties more time to reach agreement on decommissioning, policing, normalisation and the stability of the institutions within the changed political climate in Northern Ireland. In this interview Reid explains his decision. Breakfast with Frost was a weekly BBC current affairs programme.
