Interview with John Major on 22 October 1994

Transcript of an interview with John Major, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, on 22 October 1994. Nine days earlier the Combined Loyalist Military Command announced a paramilitary ceasefire. On 31 August the Provisional IRA had also announced a cessation of military activities. In this interview Major discusses the future joint publication of Framework Documents with the Irish government with the view to beginning negotiations for a peaceful settlement in Northern Ireland. On 22 February 1995 the British and Irish governments published these Framework Documents for a future peace agreement and representative government in Northern Ireland.
