Transcript of an interview with John Hume, former leader of the SDLP, by Phil Ponce for PBS Newshour on 16 October 1998. On that date it was announced that John Hume and David Trimble were to be the joint awardees of the Nobel Peace Prize for 1998, six months after the signing of the Belfast Agreement/Good Friday Agreement. In this interview Hume discusses the final stages of negotiations leading to the Agreement and the challenges that lie ahead in its implementation.
