Interview with Jim Wells by Michael Reade for LMFM The Michael Reade Show on 26 April 2011

Published:

Audio interview with Jim Wells, DUP MLA for South Down, by Michael Reade on 26 April 2011 for The Michael Reade Show on LMFM. Wells is interviewed a day after a speech was delivered by a masked Real IRA member in Derry/Londonderry threatening the safety of members of the PSNI and opposing the state visit of Queen Elizabeth II to the Republic of Ireland. The incident occurred just two weeks after the murder of Catholic PSNI Constable Ronan Kerr by dissident republicans and three weeks before Queen Elizabeth II’s arrival in the Republic of Ireland. Wells condemns the message of the Real IRA in Derry/Londonderry and discusses the role of citizens in Northern Ireland in furthering the peace process. The interview is item one on the show’s running order. The Michael Reade Show is a daily current affairs programme on LMFM, a Drogheda based radio station.
