Interview with Jeffrey Donaldson by Peter Sissons for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 05 August 2001

Published:

Transcript of an interview with Jeffrey Donaldson, UUP MP for Lagan Valley, by Peter Sissons for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 5 August 2001. Four days earlier the British and Irish governments published their Implementation Plan for the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement addressing the issues of decommissioning, policing, normalisation and the stability of the Northern Ireland institutions. The absence of Provisional IRA decommissioning, the Real IRA bombing at London Ealing on 2 August and the UUP's rejection of the Implementation Plan led to a temporary suspension of devolved government in Northern Ireland on 10 August. In this interview Donaldson critiques the Implementation Plan. Breakfast with Frost was a weekly BBC current affairs programme.
