Doherty discusses the Civil Rights movement in Northern Ireland in the 1960s and the importance of peaceful protest in achieving political aims. Civic Voices is an international organisation which promotes civic and democratic participation in society among teachers and students. Its International Democracy Memory Bank Project teaches students how to conduct oral histories on their country’s democratic process.
