Audio interview with Ian Paisley, leader of the Protestant Unionist Party, for ITN on 4 February 1969. One month earlier Paisley and Ronald Bunting were imprisoned for unlawful assembly relating to their counter-protest at a NICRA march in Armagh in November 1968. On 3 February Terence O’Neill announced a general election in Northern Ireland for later that month under pressure from the civil rights movement and some within his own party. Released from Crumlin Road prison one day later, Paisley announced his campaign for the forthcoming general election. Paisley was to come second to Terence O’Neill in the contested Bannside constituency.
