On 9 July the Parades Commission ruled that an Orange Order parade could not pass through the Ardoyne area of Belfast on its return journey on 12 July, a decision which led to clashes between protesters and the PSNI in north and east Belfast for several days. Protesters against the decision subsequently set-up a camp at Twaddell Avenue, Belfast, to demand a reversal of the Parades Commission ruling.
