Interview with David Trimble, Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness for ITN on 28 January 2000

Video interviews with David Trimble (First Minister of Northern Ireland), Gerry Adams (president of Sinn Fein) and Martin McGuinness (Northern Ireland Minister of Education) for ITN on 1 February 2000. One day earlier the second de Chastelain Report had stated that no IRA decommissioning had yet taken place. The news came in a period of heightened political tension in which it was indicated that David Trimble could resign as First Minister of Northern Ireland on the decommissioning issue. The interviewees discuss the conclusions of the de Chastelain Report. Ten days later Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, suspended devolved government and returned direct rule to Northern Ireland.
