On 10 June all-party talks began at Stormont although Sinn Fein were excluded. Trimble discusses unionist approaches to the negotiations and examines why previous peace initiatives failed. Days after the interview was conducted, the IRA detonated a bomb in Manchester destroying much of the city centre and injuring two hundred people. The Sunday Independent is Ireland’s principal Sunday newspaper.
