Interview with Cyril Ramaphosa, David Trimble and Peter Weir for ITN on 15 May 2000

Video interviews with Cyril Ramaphosa (former Chief of Staff of the Provisional IRA), David Trimble (designate First Minister of Northern Ireland) and Peter Weir (UUP MLA for North Down) for ITN on 15 May 2000. Nine days earlier the IRA issued a statement indicating its readiness to begin a process to ‘completely and verifiably’ put its arms beyond use. On 14 May Cyril Ramaphosa and Martti Ahtisaari arrived in Northern Ireland to begin arms inspections under the auspices of the IICD. The interviewees discuss the potential significance of the IRA announcement and the process of arms inspections.
