Video interview on 14 March 2007 with Bertie Ahern, Irish Taoiseach, by Richard Haass for the Council on Foreign Relations. Ahern discusses a diverse range of topics in relation to Northern Ireland and the peace process. The interview took place one week after the March 2007 election to the Northern Ireland Assembly. Two months later the DUP, Sinn Féin, UUP and SDLP formed a new Northern Ireland Executive, devolved power-sharing government having been provided for in the St. Andrew’s Agreement. Ahern’s interview was part of the Russell C. Leffingwell lecture series at the Council on Foreign Relations. This is an independent organisation which seeks to inform policy makers and wider society on the foreign policy decisions of the United States and other national governments.
