The Graduate Market in 2024 offers an overview of the graduate employment landscape, including the top universities for employability as well as graduate vacancies and starting salaries at the UK’s leading employers.

Queen Mary has been among the favoured 20 universities for top employers in the report for the last 4 years. It first broke into the top 20 in 2020.

Supporting students into the careers they want to pursue is a key objective of the University’s Strategy 2030. Careers support at the University includes a careers service which you can access for up to two years after graduating, with personalised career support; placements and internships; employer visits; and volunteering and community engagement opportunities. The University also supports student entrepreneurship through an incubator and a student enterprise award.

Fifteen months after graduation, 92 per cent of Queen Mary graduates are in work or further study.

Professor Colin Bailey CBE, President and Principal at Queen Mary University of London said: “Our sustained position in the Top 20 is a great achievement, both for our students and for the University. We pride ourselves on opening the doors of opportunity for everyone with the potential to succeed. Employers now recognise that hiring from Queen Mary University gives them access to world-leading graduates from a Russell Group University with a diversity of thought, experience and background, that will give their organisation a distinctive advantage in the modern global economy.

“We are continuing to work closely with employers to ensure that they have the opportunity to promote their organisation to our highly sought after graduates."

Queen Mary aims to be the most inclusive university of its kind anywhere. Queen Mary is consistantly recognised as a leading university in England for social mobility and won the ‘University of the Year’ award at the UK Social Mobility Awards in 2022. Forty per cent of Queen Mary’s undergraduates come from households where the annual taxable income is less than £35k, 49% are the first into higher education in their family, and 92% come from state schools.
