Queen Mary academic becomes Editor-in-Chief of obstetrics and gynaecology journal

Professor Khalid Khan is the new Editor-in-Chief of BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Khan is Professor of Women's Health and Clinical Epidemiology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, part of Queen Mary, University of London. His expertise is in clinical obstetrics-gynaecology, patient-oriented health research and medical education.

Commenting on his new role, Professor Khan said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new exciting role. BJOG is a leading international journal and publishes original, peer-reviewed work in all areas of obstetrics and gynaecology.

“I am looking forward to working with our audience, authors and colleagues at BJOG transforming it into a vehicle for effective dissemination of science for getting research into practice.”

Professor Khan trained at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and Kenya and at McMaster University, Canada. In 1995, he moved to the University of Birmingham and was appointed to the Chair of Obstetrics-Gynaecology and Clinical Epidemiology in 2005. He joined Queen Mary in 2010.

Professor Khan will take up his new position with BJOG on 1 September 2012.
