Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre Visits Hugh Wooding Law School

In November 2023 the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre (QMLAC) continued the exchange programme with the Hugh Wooding Law Schol (HWLS) of Trinidad and Tobago. Our Director Frances Ridout and Public Legal Education and Street Law Manager Meghan Mizen took two undergraduate law students to visit HWLS and emerge themselves in the clinical legal education of Trinidad and Tobago.

Our students James Donkin (QMLAC Tribunal Representative) and Kayanna Smith (QMLAC Student Adviser) spent time at the HWLS as well as the Children Court in the Port of Spain. Read a day-by-day breakdown of the what they got up to.

They visited local secondary schools to speak about Queen Mary and the Law School and connected with Queen Mary alumni to see what great things they have done since graduating.

On the last day of the visit, Fran and Meghan ran a Street Law session for staff and students of the HWLS. They ran a commonly used Street Law session called ‘Rules in the Park’ and it was great to see how universal Street Law teaching methodology is.
