Queen Mary students join the London Legal Walk 2012

QM Legal Walk Team 2012

Students from Queen Mary, University of London joined thousands of legal workers for this year’s Legal Walk on Monday 21 May.

More than 415 teams with over 6,000 walkers took part to raise money for free legal services in London. High profile participants included The Lord Judge (Lord Chief Justice), Lord Neuberger (Master of the Rolls), Dominic Grieve QC MP (Attorney General) and Keir Starmer QC (Director of Public Prosecutions). Queen Mary was represented by teams from the Legal Advice Centre, the Student Pro Bono Group and the Bar Society.

Organised by the London Legal Support Trust, the annual walk gives the legal profession a chance to do something outstanding together as team. Throughout the year many law firms and legal organisations offer their services to the community (pro bono), but the Legal Walk raises awareness and shows their commitment in another way.

Julie Pinborough, Manager of the Legal Advice Centre at Queen Mary, said:

“Our student team, led by Vicky Naylor, the Centre Coordinator, has already raised over £1,000 this year for the Trust. It’s a privilege to work with such inspiring young professionals who believe completely in the delivery of pro bono services to those that need them. It’s always a wonderful experience to be actively involved each year, in something that brings the legal profession together for one purpose and on the day, we were all proud to be there, representing Queen Mary.”

Team members:

Hannah Bosworth, Edward Choi, Shannon Diggory, Ehtesaam Farooq, Tiffany Glover, Hannah Hollman, Tufayel Hussain, David Isern, Jessica Kam, Peter Naylor, Vicky Naylor, Philip Mutton, Benik Reef, Jack Sloan and Holly Thomas.
