Next month, Queen Mary’s Legal Advice Centre, Student Bar Society and Pro Bono Group will join forces to raise money for the London Legal Support Trust. On Monday 21 May, 11 walkers and runners, a mixture of QM students and staff, will join 346 other teams of legal professionals as they walk and run ten kilometres along London’s river banks.

Last year, more than 5,000 people took part and raised over £450,000 for free legal services in London. This is the fourth year that the LAC will complete the London Legal Walk and the second time for the Bar Society.

Julie Pinborough, Centre Manager for the Legal Advice Centre, says, “The annual walk gives the legal profession a chance to do something outstanding as a team. Our School of Law is part of this team and we wanted to demonstrate this by aiming to raise over £2,000. Advice centres are under funded, yet provide crucial free legal advice services to the London community. With funding being cut, it was important for us as a collective group to help out where possible and the London Legal Walk provides us with the opportunity.”
