How to apply

Students who have successfully completed A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate will be considered for direct entry onto our undergraduate degrees. We may also consider recognised Foundation qualifications. For individual grade requirements for particular degree programmes please refer to the undergraduate study section of this website.

We also consider students from New Zealand with the following qualifications:

  • National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3

This is Queen Mary’s equivalency table for GCE A-Levels and the NCEA:

A*AA A minimum of 80 credits overall. Must include three Level 3 subjects with a minimum of 18 credits each endorsed with (E)Excellence. 
AAA A minimum of 80 credits overall. Must include three Level 3 subjects with a minimum of 18 credits each endorsed with (E)Excellence. 
AAB A minimum of 80 credits. Must include three Level three subjects with a minimum of 18 credits each. Two Level 3 subjects endorsed with (E)Excellence and one Level 3 subject endorsed with Merit.
ABB A minimum of 80 credits including. Must include three Level three subjects with a minimum of 18 credits each. One Level 3 subject endorsed with (E)Excellence and two Level 3 subjects endorsed with (M)Merit.
BBB A minimum of 80 credits. including three Level 3 subjects endorsed with Merit. Subject to be a minimum of 18 credits each.

Please note, the NCEA is not accepted for admission to our MBBS or BDS programmes that are delivered in London (but it is accepted for all other undergraduate programmes delivered in London). However, the NCEA is accepted for our MBBS programme delivered in the Republic of Malta.

Postgraduate

We normally consider the following qualifications for entry to our postgraduate taught programmes: Bachelor Degree (minimum 3 years) or Bachelor Honours Degree from a recognised institution.

UK 1st class degree: A-*; or First Class Honours**
UK 2:1 degree: B*; or Second Class (Division 1) Honours**
UK 2:2 degree: C+*; or Second Class (Division 2) Honours**
