My name is Andrea Eletto and I am an Italian qualified lawyer who graduated in 2018 with a Master of Law (LL.M.) in Commercial and Corporate Law.
After a few years of being a litigator in Italy, I was ready for a new challenge and I decided to study abroad to explore a new legal field. My motivation behind this came from the realization that successful lawyers often excel due to their exposure and experience internationally. On my path to seeking new challenges, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) was my top choice thanks to the university’s outstanding reputation for offering high quality and practice-orientated legal degrees. I was fully convinced that the university’s LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law would offer me a stepping-stone towards reaching new career goals.
After one year spent at QMUL, I can confirm it was the perfect choice. Classes were structured to provide students with the perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical advice. Moreover, the vibrant network of students and professors truly enhanced the latter. Lastly, the pro-active and excellent Career Service team at QMUL helped me draft and tailor job applications specific tp the British market. Ultimately, enabling me to secure a job in London.
Italian students should be aware that the Anglo-Saxon university system is structurally different to the one found in continental Europe. For example, all exams are written and in particular the exams set by QMUL require the ability to critically and rigorously approach topics. The key to success lies in catalysing on the lecturers, the extensive resources and the facilities available to students.
Should you have any questions about the student experience or life at QMUL, please feel free to contact me. Studying at QMUL will offer you a specular and engaging time with students from all over the world, in one of the most stimulating cities of the world.
