The Festival of Communities is returning this year on the weekend of 10th-11th June from 11.30am-4.30pm on both days.
On the Saturday, we will be taking over part of Stepney Green Park. The next day, we will open the doors of Queen Mary University’s Mile End campus to the residents of Tower Hamlets.
Aimed at engaging local communities in east London, the Festival is a collaboration between Queen Mary and local organisations. The weekend will bring together Queen Mary staff and students, community organisations and residents to jointly explore living and learning in Tower Hamlets. The activities and workshops at the Festival are designed for local families to learn something new or try something different. In the past, these ranged from hands-on experiments, sharing stories and views, interacting with demonstrations and trying out fun new things. Our last Festival saw over 8,000 visitors joining us over the two days.
The Call for Activities is now closed. If you are a community organisation or group who would like to take part in 2023 and didn't submit an application, please email festival@qmul.ac.uk to enquire about spaces left to take part, and/or to be added to the enquiry list for Festival 2024.
