After a two-year hiatus the Festival of Communities returned to Tower Hamlets to celebrate everything that makes east London a fantastic place to live and work.
Our fifth Festival was the biggest ever. We were joined by more than 5,600 local residents on the Saturday in Stepney Green Park, and by more than 2,400 visitors on the Sunday on Queen Mary’s Mile End Campus.
With hands-on demonstrations of local research and services, loads of fun family activities, food stalls, and games, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Across the weekend Queen Mary staff and students put on over 90 activities and more than 30 local community organisations ran stands. They were joined by balloon modelers, face-painters and performers on a stage run by Spotlight
It was fantastic to see so many of our local residents, Queen Mary staff and students and community groups come together to share experiences and try out new opportunities.— Queen Mary Community Engagement Manager Sarah Gifford
