Hot Topic: Professionalism in Practice (BMA Report)
Wednesday 9th September (1-2pm)
Thank you to everyone who attended today's online FD Lunch and Learn. We discussed the recent important BMA Student Report on Professionalism

Take Home Points
- BMA - Reports do not feel confident reporting concerns seen on clinical placements
- Dr Harj Bhatoa (GP) sets a professionalism activity at the start of her placements, asking students to discuss any professional or unprofessional behaviour they have seen. This aids an interesting discussion and, I believe, demonstrates a great culture of transparency. I think it would also help facilitate a 1:1 conversation about their own professionalism if needed.
- Please discuss any professionalism concerns you may have with students and let us know either via email or at the time of Sign-Off. This does not mean they will fail the placement, but we can look more closely at what is happening and offer support and aid monitoring, e.g., issues with engagement.
