Profile

I am a Lecturer in Global Public Health at the Centre for Public Health & Policy, Wolfson Institute of Population Health since 2023. Here, I lead the module of Epidemiology and Statistics and contribute to the teaching of Health Systems Policy and Practice, and Health Systems Theory, Policy and Political Economy modules for the MSc in Global Public Health. Policy Prior to joining QMUL, I have worked as academic for over five years at the at Al-Shifa School of Public Health, Al-Shifa Trust, Pakistan. I have also worked in developmental sector addressing access to healthcare services.

I hold an MS in Public Health with specialisation in Health Economics from the Umeå University, Sweden (2011), and a Doctorate in Health Sciences from the Warwick University (2022). My PhD focused on political economy analysis of tobacco taxation and pricing in Pakistan. I am interested in doing policy-relevant public health research which focuses on commercial determinants of health (like tobacco, alcohol, and ultra-processed food industries, as well as the impacts of advertising, lobbying, and product design).
