Sally is a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology & Mental Health in the Unit for Psychological Medicine in the Centre for Psychiatry & Mental Health and she is Programme Director for the MSc in Forensic Psychology & Mental Health.
Sally is a highly experienced Forensic Psychologist Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and an Associate Fellow of the BPS. She completed her Doctorate in Forensic Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, where her research explored the lived experiences of trans and gender diverse people in custody.
Prior to working in academia Sally worked for HM Prison and Probation Service, within a range of populations including adolescent, male, female, and transgender offenders in a variety of regimes including a local Category B, Category C, Open Conditions, a female establishment. She gained experience of accredited Offending Behaviour Programmes (OBPs), was the Therapy Manager on a Democratic Therapeutic Community (DTC) and was the Clinical Lead of a Psychological Informed Planned Environment (PIPE). Sally also held the position of Senior Registered Psychologist within a Progression Regime, designed for offenders unable to progress to open conditions. Sally is experienced in using a range of psychological assessment tools and completing formulations, with both adult and adolescent populations, and worked as a Negotiator Advisor.
Sally’s current clinical and expert witness practice focuses on providing psychological assessments for court hearings and the parole board. She is also a HCPC Fitness to Practice panel member.
